Fibromyalgia Awareness Day Fair

Fibromyalgia affects between 3 and 6 million Americans and approximately 90% of those affected are female.  It causes widespread muscle pain, fatigue, disrupted sleep, and a host of other unpleasant symptoms that wreak havoc on the lives of those it affects.  It is a chronic condition and there is no known cure.  I know it well…… it has been my constant companion for the past thirteen years. 
Saturday, May 12th is National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day and thanks to Second Life Resident Ariana Petrova, the day is being marked with events spread over three days, comprising the first Fibromyalgia Awareness Day Fair in SL.  

Schedule of Events:
Friday, May 11, 2012:
12 pm – Opening Ceremony
2 pm – Meet & Greet
6 pm – Best in Purple $1000L
Saturday, May 12, 2012:
10 am – Fishing for Fibromyalgia
12 pm – Fibromyalgia Trivia
2 pm – Fishing for Fibromyalgia
6 pm – Masquerade Ball $2000L
Sunday, May 13, 2012:
12 pm – Awards and Closing Ceremony
4 pm – Mother’s Day Dance
Now, what does this have to do with fashion?  Everything!  During the three day fair, there are vendor booths set up for your shopping pleasure.  The outfit I’m wearing  in the photos is made up almost entirely of free gifts offered at the fair!  So go to the Fibromyalgia Awareness Day Fair and get your purple on! 🙂
